Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 (minimum) – Grade 12 / NQF 4 is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence with the ability to drive a vehicle.
• Valid firearm competency certificate issued by the South African Police Service (SAPS).
• Registered with PSIRA and in possession of a Grade C PSIRA Certificate.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a high-risk security environment.
• Must successfully undergo screening, verification, credit, and criminal record checks.
• Must be declared medically fit for the position and mining environment (risk-based medical examination at Sibanye-Stillwater Occupational Health Centre).

Advantageous Qualifications:

• NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate / Grade 12)
• Certificates in crowd control management, tactical firearm handling, defence and restraint techniques, or advanced driving skills.

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Guard, you will be responsible for:

• Protecting Sibanye-Stillwater assets through effective access control, guarding, observation, and patrolling.
• Conducting regular inspections of buildings, infrastructure, and perimeters to identify and address security risks.
• Controlling access to premises by verifying the identity and status of employees, contractors, and visitors according to approved procedures.
• Performing random and dedicated foot or vehicle patrols in high-risk areas.
• Safeguarding employees and visitors by strictly following safety and security protocols.
• Assisting with crowd facilitation and providing first-line reaction during incidents or crime events.
• Delivering a professional, customer-friendly, and reassuring security presence at all times.
• Conducting thorough searches of people and vehicles entering and exiting the premises.
• Reporting suspicious behaviour, incidents, or potential threats to the Supervisor and requesting backup when necessary.
• Accurately recording all observations, actions, crimes, and security incidents on the SPS Crime Administration system.
• Maintaining the highest standards of integrity, discipline, and professionalism while on duty.

The role involves shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as security is a 24/7 operation in the mining environment.
