Key Performance Areas

As a General Worker (Redline Gate/Guard/Fence Patroller), your core duties will include:

• Control over movement of cloven-hooved animals at designated gates and crossing points.
• Conduct regular fence patrols to identify and report any damage, breaches, or suspicious activity.
• Control over quarantined animals and ensure compliance with movement restrictions.
• Keep accurate records of animal movements, incidents, and daily activities.
• Report any fence damage, illegal crossings, or disease symptoms to the supervisor immediately.
• Assist with the implementation of biosecurity measures and veterinary protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and order at gate points and patrol routes.
• Work collaboratively with veterinary officers and other departmental staff.
• Perform any other reasonable duties as delegated by the supervisor.

Prerequisites

• Basic literacy and numeracy (ABET Level 2) or equivalent appropriate qualification as recognised by SAQA.
