Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Miner General role, you must meet the following:

• Valid Blasting Certificate (essential)
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• 2–3 years’ mining experience in Trackless Mining
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Medically fit to work in the specific business area (underground mining)
• Clear security screening record

Note: Your current manager must be aware of and support your application. Pre-screening and psychometric assessments may form part of the selection process. Shortlisted candidates will attend a panel interview.

Key Responsibilities

As a Miner General, you will play a critical role in safe and efficient underground mining operations. Your duties will include:

Safety, Health, Environment, Risk & Quality (SHERQ)

• Ensure team adherence to PPE requirements and all safety standards.
• Participate in SHERQ meetings, campaigns, and risk assessments.
• Conduct accident/incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Perform Safe Behavioural Observations (SBOs) and Planned Task Observations (PTOs).
• Report all incidents, near-misses, and hazards promptly.
• Maintain compliance with mine standards, procedures, and policies.

Production

• Conduct daily re-entry examinations.
• Mark off support and identify reef bands according to geological reports.
• Charge up faces and perform safe blasting.
• Plan and coordinate mining activities to achieve daily/weekly production targets.
• Effectively utilise available resources (materials, machinery, and people).

Administration & People Management

• Complete accurate documentation and administration.
• Plan leave cycles and manage team performance and development.
• Provide coaching and on-the-job training to team members.
• Ensure fair work allocation and inspire high performance.
