Key Duties and Responsibilities As a Water Control Aid, you will be responsible for: Opening and closing sluices according to approved scheme regulations. Managing and recording water distribution sheets accurately. Performing minor maintenance on sluices, structures, fencing, and related infrastructure. Clearing blocked pipes, canals, algae, and water grass. Conducting daily inspections of embankments, canals, and measuring structures. Reporting defects such as cracks, holes, stagnant water, or irregularities to the Water Control Officer. Painting sluices and weirs, and ensuring all sluice numbers are clearly marked. Keeping canal grids, gauge plates, structures, and surroundings clean. Maintaining open inlet holes to measuring boxes and keeping post boxes locked.
