Job Purpose

As a Warehouse Officer, you will assist the Supply Chain team in delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient warehouse services to support mining operations. You will manage inventory processes, coordinate deliveries, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with strict safety and operational standards. Your work will help minimise downtime, control costs, and keep mining activities running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the smooth and efficient operation of the warehouse function, contributing to workflow optimisation and team productivity.
  • Manage core inventory processes, including receipting, storage, stock control, picking, issuing, and distribution of company assets and spares.
  • Assist in the investigation and resolution of discrepancies related to receipting, invoicing, and freight to support timely and accurate financial processing.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation to ensure a safe, clean, and compliant working environment at all times.
  • Participate in regular stocktakes, cycle counts, and inventory audits to ensure accuracy and integrity of stock records.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (maintenance, production, procurement) and external suppliers to support effective supply chain and logistics outcomes.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with all Anglo American safety standards, procedures, and legal requirements (including MHSA and OHSA).
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting on warehouse activities, stock levels, and performance metrics.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, improving efficiency, and enhancing safety.
  • Support the receipt and dispatch of goods, including verification of delivery documentation and condition of items.
  • Maintain accurate records in the SAP system and other warehouse management tools.
  • Assist with the training and development of junior warehouse staff where required.

The role involves both indoor warehouse work and occasional outdoor/site support in a mining environment. You must be physically fit and willing to work shifts as operationally required.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4) – essential.
  • Forklift licence (minimum Reach Truck and Counterbalance) – essential.
  • Certificate III in Warehousing / Logistics or equivalent qualification – strongly preferred.
  • Valid South African driver’s licence (Code C or C1 with PDP) – essential.
  • MR Truck Licence – advantageous.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a warehouse, stores, or logistics environment, preferably within mining or heavy industry.
  • Proven experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong track record in inventory management, stock control, and material handling.
