Job Purpose To be responsible for the receiving, safe storage, and issuing of materials when needed in the store, ensuring an efficient and effective provisioning service to support the City’s operational needs. Primary Functions and Responsibilities As a Storekeeper, your daily work will focus on warehouse operations, stock control, and administrative accuracy. Key responsibilities include: Implementing and maintaining warehouse management procedures. Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) requirements at all times. Receiving, inspecting, and safely storing incoming materials and stock. Issuing store items correctly and efficiently to authorised departments. Recording all store transactions accurately and maintaining proper documentation. Advising the Senior Storekeeper on issues regarding surpluses, shortages, and stock quality. Conducting regular stock counts and reconciliations. Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe store environment. Monitoring stock levels and preparing requisitions for replenishment. Assisting with the disposal of obsolete or damaged stock according to policy. Providing excellent internal customer service to departments requesting materials. Collaborating with procurement and finance teams to resolve discrepancies. Performing general administrative tasks related to inventory management. Advantageous: Mathematics and/or Accountancy as Grade 12 subjects. SAP system proficiency or experience in inventory management software.
