POST 02/258: SECURITY OFFICER

SALARY:

R155,148 per annum

CENTRE:

Tygerberg Hospital, Parow Valley

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualification:

• Minimum General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) or Grade 9 (Std. 7).

Registration with a Professional Council:

• Registered with the Security Board in terms of the Security Industry Regulatory Authority Act (Act 56 of 2001) as a Grade C Security Officer (PSIRA).

Inherent Requirements:

• Willingness to work shifts, including being available on a 24-hour basis.
• Ability to handle pressure and irregular working hours as needed.

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):

• Strong communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, prescripts, and procedures.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Responsible and diligent work ethic.

DUTIES

1. Building and Premises Security:
   • Guard and protect buildings, key points, patients, visitors, and personnel.
   • Patrol fences, buildings, and hospital premises.
2. Access Control:
   • Manage access and egress points to prevent unlawful entry or removal of persons, vehicles, dangerous objects, or illegal substances.
   • Monitor surveillance cameras and fire alarm systems.
3. Surveillance Monitoring:
   • Use surveillance cameras to identify and prevent suspicious activities, vehicle thefts, and unlawful entries.
4. Service Delivery Support:
   • Provide efficient support to supervisors and ensure excellent service delivery.
5. Equipment Utilization:
   • Use security equipment effectively to deliver high-quality services.
6. Compliance Inspections:
   • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with contract management protocols.
