About the Role

The Food Services Assistant will support the kitchen team by:

• Assisting cooks and chefs with food preparation and service.

• Operating the cash register and serving food.

• Keeping the canteen, kitchen, and serving areas clean.

This is a hands-on role in a corporate catering environment, requiring teamwork, reliability, and a commitment to hygiene and quality service.

⚙️ Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain hygiene and safety standards per company and statutory regulations.

• Assist in preparing meals (especially salads and desserts).

• Keep the serving line stocked, clean, and organized.

• Record and store leftovers properly.

• Ensure customer expectations and service levels are met.

• Report complaints or compliments to management.

• Attend necessary meetings and training.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies

• Enjoy practical, methodical work.

• Honest, reliable, and a good communicator.

• Able to work safely, quickly, and as part of a team.

• Good hand-eye coordination and personal hygiene.

• Physically fit (able to stand, bend, lift; work 45–50 hours/week).

• No allergies to food or detergents.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Must have completed Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate).
