About the Role

As Housekeeping Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness and hygiene standards across the hospital. You will lead a team of permanent and outsourced cleaning staff, ensure proper management of healthcare waste and linen, and support the overall infection prevention and control efforts that keep patients, staff, and visitors safe.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital environment.
• Oversee and control healthcare waste management and linen services.
• Effectively manage and control all cleaning equipment, materials, and machinery.
• Supervise permanent housekeeping staff as well as outsourced cleaning teams.
• Ensure compliance with hospital cleaning protocols, infection prevention, and control procedures.
• Provide general support to the supervisor and report any issues promptly.
• Conduct regular checks and enforce disciplinary procedures when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

• General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) / Grade 9 (Std 7) or higher.
• Appropriate housekeeping experience in a hospital environment (essential).
• Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and overtime.
• Ability to lift heavy objects when required.

Competencies and Skills

• Sound knowledge of hospital cleaning protocols and procedures.
• Strong ability to manage, supervise, and lead a team of employees.
• Good understanding of hospital cleaning machinery, consumables, and equipment.
• Knowledge of environmental hygiene, infection prevention, and control.
• Understanding of healthcare waste risk management and linen procedures.
• Knowledge of disciplinary procedures and labour relations.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
