You will live and work in your assigned ward, helping communities identify their needs, access government services, and participate in development initiatives. This position plays a critical role in strengthening public participation, improving service delivery, and supporting the Integrated Development Plans (IDPs) of municipalities across Mpumalanga. Detailed Duties and Responsibilities As a Community Development Worker, your daily work will be diverse and community-focused. Key responsibilities include: Conduct needs analysis and develop comprehensive community profiles. Perform regular door-to-door visits and community consultations. Identify, document, and prioritise community needs. Visit households annually, maintain accurate records, and submit weekly monitoring reports. Work closely with ward committees, traditional leaders, and community structures. Advocate for vulnerable groups (women, youth, elderly, people with disabilities). Facilitate information dissemination about government services across all three spheres. Conduct social awareness and community education campaigns. Mobilise communities into focus groups and support self-organisation. Network with government departments to improve service delivery. Requirements and Skills Minimum Requirements: Senior Certificate (Grade 12). Higher Certificate or Diploma at NQF Level 5 in a relevant field (Community Development, Public Management, Social Sciences, or related). Must reside in the specific ward where the vacancy is advertised. Successful candidates will be registered on a 12-month part-time Community Development Learnership.
