Position Purpose

The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the building, ensuring that equipment, fixtures, and furnishings are clean and well-kept. Duties include routine cleaning tasks like vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, washing surfaces, and emptying trash.

Essential Functions and Duties

1. Cleaning Responsibilities
   • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors.
   • Dust and wash walls, doors, light fixtures, vending machines, and windows.
   • Disinfect toilets, urinals, showers, and tile floors.
   • Refill soap, toilet paper, and towel dispensers.
   • Empty trash containers and maintain waste receptacles.
   • Pick up litter as needed.
2. Communication and Coordination
   • Assist company personnel and service providers as required.
   • Report area activities, significant problems, and cleaning concerns to management.
3. Client Relations
   • Maintain courteous, professional relations with clients and the public.
4. Additional Duties
   • Perform additional cleaning tasks as assigned.
   • Maintain facility security.

Performance Measurements

• Cleanliness and upkeep of building facilities.
• Completion of cleaning tasks according to standards and schedules.
• Prompt reporting and resolution of cleaning needs.
• Positive coordination with company operations and personnel.
• Professional relations with clients and visitors.

Requirements

• Education: No formal education required, matric preferred.
• Knowledge: Basic cleaning techniques, safety standards, and OSHA requirements.
• Experience: Previous cleaning/janitorial experience is beneficial.
• Skills: Detail-oriented, able to work independently, capable of working weekends and evenings, and familiar with basic cleaning tools.
