Job Purpose

The Cashier will be responsible for operating cash registers, accurately processing payments, and delivering outstanding customer service at the point of sale. You will ensure every customer leaves with a positive “WOW” experience while maintaining high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and brand representation. This role is central to driving sales, minimising stock loss, and creating a seamless checkout experience that keeps customers coming back.

Key Responsibilities

As a Cashier, your daily duties will include:

• Providing awesome customer service to create a memorable “WOW” experience for every shopper.
• Attending to the unique and individual needs of each customer, always putting the customer first.
• Adhering to all basic customer service standards to ensure prompt and efficient service.
• Selling goods and actively promoting add-on sales and services at the Point of Sale (POS).
• Preparing for the start of day and accepting all transactions according to company standard operating procedures.
• Adhering to merchandising and housekeeping standards and schedules.
• Operating cash registers and receiving payments for goods purchased by customers (cash, card, vouchers, etc.).
• Examining returned goods and reporting issues to managers for appropriate action.
• Ensuring all POS stations are maintained in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Preparing, implementing, and maintaining advertised sales promotions at the POS.
• Ensuring goods are correctly priced and displayed at the checkout.
• Participating in stock takes and stock counts.
• Minimising stock loss and expenses in your area of responsibility.
• Maximising sales in all areas.
• Protecting company assets in your area of responsibility.

You will work in a fast-paced retail environment and must be available for shift work, including weekends and public holidays, to support store trading hours.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric Certificate – essential.
• Minimum 6 months retail or cashier experience – essential.
• Must have own or reliable transport to be able to work shifts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
• Good computer literacy.
• Positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a customer-focused mindset.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
• Presentable appearance and professional demeanour.
