Job Purpose

To manage cashier duties during working hours, weekends, and public holidays, and to man the entrance gates at various pay-point swimming pools in Region 7. You will be responsible for accurate cash handling, revenue collection, and providing excellent customer service to pool visitors.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

As a Cashier, your daily work will focus on financial transactions, public interaction, and administrative support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Handling cash and card payments accurately and efficiently at pool entrance gates.
  • Issuing tickets and maintaining proper records of all transactions.
  • Making up daily cash-up documents and banking money according to strict municipal procedures.
  • Being fully accountable for all cash and income handled, including liability for any shortages.
  • Providing first-line customer service and handling public enquiries professionally.
  • Communicating any challenges, discrepancies, or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintaining high levels of honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times.

  • Must successfully undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints taken at own cost by the Tshwane Metro Police Department).
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.
