Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a dedicated and responsible Store Driver to join our store in Goodwood, N1 City. As a Store Driver, you will be responsible for the timely, safe, and professional delivery of goods to customers, ensuring a high standard of service. The ideal candidate should be willing to adapt to a fast-paced retail environment, demonstrating flexibility and an eagerness to provide efficient service.
Key Responsibilities
- Timely and Safe Deliveries: Ensure products are transported to customer locations safely, courteously, and within the specified timeframe. Maintain a high level of professionalism and represent the Dis-Chem brand positively while delivering goods.
- Efficient Routing and Prioritization: Utilize the most efficient route for deliveries to minimize time and fuel consumption. Give priority to fridge line deliveries, using cooler boxes and cold packs to preserve product quality.
- Vehicle Management: After each delivery, make sure the vehicle is correctly repacked to prevent boxes from shifting and potentially causing damage. Inspect the vehicle before, during, and after each trip to ensure it is in good condition and report any concerns to the manager.
- Customer Relations: Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers through prompt and courteous service. Act as a representative of Dis-Chem and contribute to a positive customer experience by promptly reporting any feedback or complaints to the manager.
- Documentation and Cash Handling: Ensure that all delivery paperwork is signed upon delivery, and that collections/store returns are correctly signed for and returned to the receiving area. Process payments on all transactions via EFT or cash and maintain accurate transaction records.
- Adherence to Safety Standards: Follow the company’s vehicle policy at all times. Adhere to the road traffic rules and regulations as outlined in the National Road Traffic Act, ensuring the safety of both the driver and the vehicle.
- Professional Conduct: Uphold the company’s professional standards when interacting with customers, ensuring that every delivery is conducted in a friendly and efficient manner.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness and ability to work retail hours and shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar delivery driver role is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages would be an added benefit, enhancing customer interaction.

- Communication and Customer Service: The ability to communicate effectively with customers, management, and staff is essential. Strong customer service skills, along with the ability to establish long-term customer relationships, are key to this role.
- Time Management: Strong time management skills are crucial for ensuring timely deliveries and efficient use of resources.

- Attention to Detail and Efficiency: Must be able to manage documentation accurately and maintain a clean and organized vehicle.
- Physical Stamina: The role requires the ability to lift and move heavy boxes, making physical stamina an important attribute.
