Primary Functions and Responsibilities

As a Staff Nurse, you will render basic functional primary healthcare services within your scope of practice for eight hours per day (Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 16:00). Key responsibilities include:

• Providing basic nursing care and treatment for patients with stable and uncomplicated health conditions.
• Assisting with healthcare for patients with complicated or unstable conditions under Professional Nurse supervision.
• Providing basic emergency care when required.
• Assessing and screening health status through observation, interaction, and measurements.
• Developing simple nursing care plans to meet basic health needs.
• Managing delegated nursing care tasks effectively.
• Performing routine clinical procedures such as:

  • Measuring temperature

Qualifying Criteria

Minimum Requirements:

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
• Working experience at primary healthcare facilities (advantageous).
• No criminal record or previous dismissal for misconduct.
• Must undergo a criminal record check (fingerprints taken at own cost by the Tshwane Metro Police Department).
