• Minimum 10 years relevant experience at CB1-2 level

Additional Requirements (All Levels):

• Valid driver’s licence (advantageous)
• Computer literacy
• Firearm competency (will be tested)
• Good communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and Minimum Security Standards for correctional centres

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Security Officer, your daily responsibilities will include:

• Performing strict access control at the correctional centre and between different sections.
• Controlling the internal and external movement of inmates.
• Guarding inmates within the facility and during external escorts to courts or public institutions.
• Conducting physical security inspections and searches.
• Managing security equipment and stores.
• Operating and monitoring the security control room.
• Ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and inmates at all times.
• Applying rehabilitation principles by maintaining a secure, safe, and humane environment.
• Participating in emergency response and contingency procedures.
• Completing accurate occurrence books, reports, and registers.
• Adhering to all departmental policies, the Correctional Services Act, and safety protocols.

The role involves shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as security is a 24/7 operation.
