Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for the following core duties (among others):

  • Ensure an effective and efficient security function at different Head Office buildings and premises.
  • Exercise direct control and supervision over security personnel on shift.
  • Manage safeguarding of SAPS premises, assets, and personnel.
  • Oversee proper access control at all ingress/egress points in compliance with the Control of Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act 53 of 1985) and related legislation.
  • Ensure total compliance with all relevant security registers and documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor patrol duties across Head Office buildings and grounds.
  • Administer and exercise control over Control Room activities, including monitoring of alarms, CCTV, and communication systems.
  • Identify, report, and manage security-related breaches and incidents.
  • Maintain effective control over security technology aids and equipment.
  • Enforce discipline and professional standards within the security environment.
  • Ensure effective and efficient management of human, financial, physical, and information resources.
  • Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of security measures.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on security-related matters.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and implementation.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and statistics for security operations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and professionalism among team members.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must display competency in the core functions of the post.
  • Be proficient in at least English and one other official language.
  • Be a South African citizen (documentary proof required).
  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 (NQF Level 4).
  • NQF Level 5 qualification in Security (Risk) Management, Policing, Criminology, or related field (advantageous).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the security field.
  • Valid registration with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).
  • At least a Grade B Security Certificate or higher.
  • Not declared unfit to possess a firearm.
  • Willing to undergo firearm competency training and maintain competency.
  • Valid driver’s licence for a light motor vehicle (added advantage).
  • Willingness to work shifts and extended hours.
  • Knowledge of access control procedures, emergency protocols, and relevant security legislation (e.g., Minimum Information Security Standards, National Intelligence Service Act, Protection of Information Act).
