Role Summary

The Receptionist serves as the welcoming face of the Medicross Silverton clinic. You will manage the full patient admissions process, handle switchboard duties, process billing and payments, and provide outstanding customer service. You will act as a Brand Ambassador, living Netcare’s values while ensuring smooth clinic operations and positive patient experiences.

Key Work Outputs and Accountabilities

Reception Oversight & Customer Service

  • Prepare and maintain a neat, professional, and welcoming reception area every day.
  • Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional service to all patients and visitors.
  • Manage patient arrivals, admissions, and registration processes accurately.
  • Ensure all patient information is captured correctly on the system.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally and escalate when necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with uniform policy and always wear your name badge.
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and data protection (POPIA).

Switchboard and Telephone Management

  • Answer and direct calls promptly with professional telephone etiquette.
  • Accurately record and relay messages.
  • Schedule appointments according to patient preferences and practitioner availability.
  • Manage high call volumes efficiently during peak times.

Patient Engagement and Administration

  • Assist patients with completing necessary documentation.
  • Verify and update patient details on the system.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
  • Previous receptionist or customer service experience in a healthcare or medical environment is highly advantageous.
  • Computer literacy (especially clinic management systems and Microsoft Office).
  • Strong administrative and numerical skills.
