Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

As a Porter, your role will focus on patient transport, equipment movement, and general support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting and accompanying patients, transporting them safely via wheelchair, trolley, or bed from one area to another (wards to theatre, radiology, etc.).
  • Supporting the movement of medical equipment and supplies throughout the hospital.
  • Collecting and cleaning wheelchairs, trolleys, and blood hampers.
  • Assisting with the respectful and dignified removal of bodies from wards when required.
  • Supporting ambulatory and walking patients as needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in assigned areas.
  • Rendering general support to supervisors and clinical teams.
  • Performing administrative duties as assigned (e.g., logging movements).
  • Adhering to all infection control, health, safety, and patient confidentiality protocols.
  • Working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
