Job Overview

Netcare, a leading healthcare provider in South Africa, is looking for dedicated Porters to join its team in 2024. Porters play a vital role in hospital operations by ensuring the safe and timely transportation of patients, medical equipment, and supplies between hospital departments.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Transport: Safely transporting patients to and from hospital departments (e.g., radiology, surgery, wards).
• Equipment Handling: Assisting with the movement of medical equipment and hospital supplies.
• Cleanliness & Organization: Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of transportation tools, such as wheelchairs and trolleys.
• Safety Protocols: Following all safety protocols to ensure patient comfort and well-being.
• Patient Support: Supporting healthcare staff with patient care during transport, ensuring dignity and respect.
• Service Requests: Responding promptly to requests for porter services and efficiently managing time to meet hospital demands.
• Policy Compliance: Adhering to Netcare’s policies and standards while on duty.

Requirements:

• Educational Qualification: Grade 10-12 / NQF 4.
• Skills & Traits:
  • Empathy towards patients, especially those who are weak or distressed.
  • Ability to handle irritable or uncooperative patients.
  • Flexibility to manage varied responsibilities.
  • Ability to interact with people of different ages and backgrounds.
  • Friendly, mature, honest, and reliable personality.
  • Ability to work shifts.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Clear criminal record.
