Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum requirement: ABET or Grade 10
  • Hospital environment experience
  • Laundry experience will be advantageous
  • Understanding of a laundry set-up
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work shifts, especially night shift when required
  • Ability to rotate in all areas of the laundry
  • Honest and reliable
  • Physical strength to cope with the physical demands of the position
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Key Duties

  • Clean the laundry area and laundry machines
  • Operate various machines in the laundry (washing machines, dryers, ironing and pressers)
  • Iron, fold, count and pack laundered items and seal linen bags
  • Collect and deliver linen to clients (except Edenvale Hospital)
  • Sort, count and record dirty linen
  • Perform all laundry responsibilities as directed by the supervisor
  • Report any machine defects to the supervisor
  • Carry out all laundry duties as instructed by the supervisor
