Job Summary
The Internal Training Officer will oversee and coordinate internal training functions, primarily focused on technical and food safety training in maintenance and processing. This role contributes to plant operations by ensuring compliance with food safety standards, enhancing operational effectiveness, and fulfilling regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12 / NQF 4 equivalent
- Diploma or degree in Training (or a relevant qualification)
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in learning and development
- Proven track record in technical and food safety training design and delivery
- Experience in a production/manufacturing plant environment
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with production machinery, processes, and standards
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement/20 Keys
- Ideally qualified in Six Sigma/Lean
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
- Willingness to work overtime, including weekends
Responsibilities
- Department Supervision and Training Needs
- Supervise internal trainers, ensuring effective technical and food safety training
- Diagnose and develop solutions for internal training needs to maintain food safety compliance
- Development and Delivery of Training Programs
- Conducts annual training needs assessments and designs programs for technical and food safety requirements
- Create training materials using diverse media suited to plant staff
- Training Administration
- Prepare and organize training events, maintain SOPs and written procedures, and create/update training materials
- Evaluate training results and compliance with audit criteria
- Collaboration and Cost-Effectiveness
- Coordinate with other departments and identify cost-saving opportunities with the Industrial Engineer
- Monitor spending within the training department’s budget
