Detailed Duties and Responsibilities As an Inspector, you will perform a wide range of compliance, enforcement, and educational activities. Key responsibilities include: Conducting occupational inspections to ensure compliance with all labour legislation. Executing investigations into reported cases of labour law contraventions. Enforcing compliance through notices, fines, or referrals for prosecution where necessary. Conducting proactive (blitz) inspections to monitor compliance in targeted sectors or areas. Organising and participating in advocacy campaigns on labour legislation. Assisting in the drafting of inspection plans, reports, and compilation of statistics. Educating employers and employees on their rights and obligations under the law. Providing guidance on the Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, and other relevant legislation. Maintaining accurate records of inspections, investigations, and outcomes. Collaborating with other government departments and stakeholders on labour matters. Representing the department in meetings, workshops, and dispute resolution processes. Performing administrative duties related to case management and reporting. Requirements for the Inspector Position Minimum Requirements: A three (3) year relevant qualification in Labour Relations, BCom Law, LLB, or equivalent. Valid driver’s licence. Knowledge of Departmental policies and procedures, Skills Development Act, Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, and Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act. Key Skills: Facilitation, planning, and organising skills. Strong computing skills (spreadsheets, PowerPoint, word processing).
