Key Accountabilities & Learning Areas

During the 3-year programme, you will progressively develop expertise in the following areas:

  • Performing and evaluating visual inspections.
  • Conducting and interpreting wall thickness measurements.
  • Learning magnetic particle testing and dye penetrant testing.
  • Performing in-service inspections on pressure vessels, steam generators, and piping according to PER requirements.
  • Using specialised inspection equipment and reviewing radiographs.
  • Observing and supporting pressure tests.
  • Recommending repair actions or alternatives based on inspection findings.
  • Verifying equipment condition after repairs or modifications.
  • Predicting equipment replacement needs through comprehensive evaluation.

Minimum Requirements

Formal Education:

  • Completed Grade 12 with a minimum of 50% in Pure Mathematics, Physical Science, and English.
