About the Role

The Office of the Deputy Minister plays a critical role in supporting the leadership of the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. The Driver / Messenger provides essential logistical and administrative support by ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of staff, documents, and guests. Key Performance Areas / Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Collect and deliver documents.
  • Transport employees in the office of the Deputy Minister, as well as guests and special advisors of the Deputy Minister.
  • Maintain knowledge of the policies and procedures that apply in the work environment.
  • Render a general support function in the office of the Deputy Minister.
  • Ensure the safe and timely transportation of personnel and official materials.
  • Perform routine vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel usage as required.
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Assist with other logistical and messenger duties as directed by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 10 (or equivalent qualification).
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Knowledge of the Public Service Act and Public Service regulations.

  • Working knowledge of the political and parliamentary processes in South Africa.
