The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness (Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services) is recruiting three Cleaners for permanent positions at Strand CDC, Gustrouw CDC and Michael Mapongwana CDC in the Khayelitsha/Eastern Sub-structure.

These Level 02 positions offer a basic salary of R144 024 per annum and are essential for maintaining clean, hygienic and safe primary healthcare facilities.

Centres:

• Strand CDC
• Gustrouw CDC
• Michael Mapongwana CDC (Khayelitsha/Eastern Sub-structure)

Minimum Requirements

• Basic literacy and numeracy skills
• Appropriate cleaning experience at a Health facility or hospital

Inherent Requirements of the Job:

• Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and supplies
• Perform overtime and work shifts
• Public holidays and night duty only at Michael Mapongwana CDC

Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):

• Ability to work effectively in a team, independently and unsupervised
• Accepting accountability and responsibility
• Able to handle conflict
• Ability to work under pressure

Key Duties

• General cleaning and maintenance of cleaning equipment
• Dusting, sweeping, polishing, scrubbing and mopping of floors, passages and furniture
• Empty dustbins and sort soiled linen according to correct cleaning procedures
• Effective use of cleaning agents and stock
• Responsible for general hygiene and a safe environment
• Handling of cleaning equipment
• Assist with the offloading and unpacking of stock
• Perform relief duties as required
