Key Responsibilities

As a Warehouse Checker, you will ensure accurate and compliant stock handling. Your main duties will include:

Stock Accuracy & Verification

  • Verifying the accuracy of picked, received, loaded, and staged stock by checking quantities, batch numbers, best-before dates, and pallet conditions.
  • Preventing errors, losses, and customer claims through thorough checking processes.
  • Supporting effective stock management and traceability.

Inventory Control & Record Keeping

  • Updating bin cards and participating in stock counts and daily cycle counts.
  • Ensuring physical stock aligns with system records.
  • Maintaining full traceability of products.

Housekeeping & Audit Readiness

  • Promoting and maintaining high housekeeping and “clean-as-you-go” standards.
  • Ensuring the warehouse remains safe, organised, and audit-ready at all times.

Damage & Loss Prevention

  • Identifying, recording, reporting, and managing damaged stock and pallets.
  • Ensuring correct repacking, disposal, and accountability with photographic evidence where required.

Health, Safety & Food Safety Compliance

  • Adhering to and enforcing occupational health and safety, SHE, and food safety standards.
  • Supporting allergen control, stock rotation, stacking limits, and hygiene requirements.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensuring all inbound and outbound documentation, picking slips, and CHEP pallet transactions are completed accurately and processed timeously.
  • Supporting team adherence to operational, HR, and Invocom requirements.

You will work in a pressurised warehouse environment and must maintain high standards of accuracy and safety.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 qualification.

Experience:

  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Picker in an FMCG environment.
  • Warehouse-related Learnership is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent numerical and checking skills.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies, damages, and variances.
