Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for the following core duties (among others):

• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures at all times.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers.
• Process all purchases accurately — receive and handle cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment.
• Transact all loyalty cards including Discovery Health, Medihelp, Momentum Multiply, and eBucks.
• Ensure safe and responsible cash handling according to company SOPs.
• Place all cash securely in the drop safe as per Dis-Chem procedures.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding daily takings and financial information.
• Exchange merchandise and process authorised returns.
• Promote current sales and special offers to enhance customer value.
• Report customer complaints, compliments, and queries to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
• Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate and service standards.
• Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by a supervisor.
• Be alert to suspicious behaviour and report it immediately to management.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at the till point.
• Support the store team during busy periods and special promotions.
• Uphold Dis-Chem’s security, health, and safety policies at all times.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum of 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Sound numerical skills
• Strong command of the English language
• Basic customer service orientation
• Willing and able to work retail hours (including weekends and public holidays)
