About the Role

Reporting directly to the Store Manager, the Butchery Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the entire butchery department. You will ensure smooth daily operations, maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, drive sales and profitability, and deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Performance Areas (Responsibilities)

• Supervise butchery targets and ensure department profitability.
• Set and maintain ideal stock levels for each product category.
• Ensure the correct product range is available at the right time of day/week.
• Keep key value items (KVIs) always in stock.
• Accurately record stock transfers and conduct regular price ticket spot checks.
• Perform price surveys and keep KVI prices competitive.
• Ensure correct packaging is used for all products.
• Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in the department.
• Manage systems, policies, and standard operating procedures.
• Handle customer orders and resolve complaints efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) certificate (essential).
• A retail or business management-related qualification would be an advantage.
• 1–3 years experience in a butchery supervision role.
• Strong numerical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build strategic relationships with staff and customers.
• High level of integrity and assertiveness.

Inherent Job Requirements

• Must be available to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, based on operational needs.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• Own transport (essential).
• Willingness to relocate if required.
