Job Description

The YES Youth Opportunity at American Swiss in Langeberg Mall offers young South Africans an entry into the retail sector with a focus on jewellery sales and customer service. Participants will work in a vibrant retail environment, gaining hands-on experience in customer engagement, stock management, and store operations. This role is designed to provide a life-changing first work experience, equipping participants with skills to enhance employability in the retail industry.

Requirements

To qualify for the YES Youth Opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Age: 18–28 years old.

• Education: Matric (Grade 12) preferred; minimum Grade 10.

• Availability: Able to commit to a 12-month fixed-term contract (April 2025 – March 2026).

• Employment History: Not previously employed permanently with a single employer for more than 1 year.

• Study Status: Not studying full-time during the employment period (April 2025 – March 2026).

• YES Programme History: Must not have participated or been registered on the YES Programme before.

• Logistics: Responsible for own accommodation and transportation (if applicable).

• Equity: Preference given to candidates from designated groups per the Employment Equity Act.

Skills and Competencies:

• Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

• Customer-centric approach and willingness to learn.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Duties

As a YES Programme participant at American Swiss, you will:

• Assist with customer service, including greeting customers and addressing queries.

• Support sales activities, showcasing jewellery and accessories to enhance customer experiences.

• Help with stock management, including receiving, displaying, and organizing merchandise.

• Maintain a clean and visually appealing store environment.

• Participate in team activities to support store operations and meet sales targets.

• Engage in training to develop retail and customer service skills.
