Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (essential)

  • Experience: 0 to 6 months (ideal for entry-level applicants)

  • Knowledge of:

    • Unemployment Insurance Act

    • Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act

    • Public Service Act and Regulations

    • Batho Pele Principles

    • Departmental policies and customer care

  • Skills Needed:

    • Verbal and written communication

    • Good listening skills

    • Computer literacy

    • Customer relations

    • Basic decision-making


Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a UI Claims Officer, your primary duties will include:

  • Receiving and assessing Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims using departmental systems.

  • Registering employers and verifying employee declarations.

  • Processing and executing payments for approved claims within set timeframes.

  • Handling customer enquiries related to UI claims and the claims process.

  • Performing administrative support duties as required within the section.
