Pedros is recruiting a Turret Truck Operator (Turret Driver) for its Distribution Centre in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. Role Overview

The Turret Truck Operator ensures stock is handled accurately and safely, stored in the correct locations, replenished on time, and picked according to system instructions and warehouse procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Health, Safety & Equipment

  • Complete daily pre-operational and safety inspections on turret trucks and warehouse equipment
  • Operate all equipment safely and responsibly
  • Wear the required PPE at all times
  • Follow all company health, safety, OHS policies, procedures and SOPs
  • Report equipment faults, accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately
  • Take proper care of warehouse equipment and report any damage or defects
  • Maintain a clean, safe and obstruction-free work area

2. Stock Put-Away & Storage

  • Safely receive and store stock in the correct warehouse locations
  • Complete stock put-away accurately and efficiently
  • Ensure stock is allocated to the correct bin locations
  • Follow FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable
  • Verify product codes, quantities and locations during stock movements
  • Handle products carefully to prevent damage, loss or contamination
  • Report incorrect, damaged or unsuitable storage locations

3. Stock Replenishment

  • Replenish picking locations from reserve stock as required
  • Prioritise replenishment tasks according to operational requirements
  • Complete replenishment within required timeframes
  • Ensure quantities, product codes and bin locations are accurate
  • Report stock shortages, discrepancies and location issues to the supervisor

4. Picking Operations

  • Pick stock accurately according to system-generated instructions
  • Retrieve products from the correct bin locations
  • Verify product codes, descriptions and quantities
  • Check batch numbers and expiry dates where applicable
  • Handle products carefully to prevent damage
  • Meet required productivity and accuracy targets
  • Report stock discrepancies, damaged stock and picking issues promptly

5. Inventory Control

  • Assist with daily cycle counts and scheduled stock counts
  • Accurately identify and record stock quantities
  • Verify product codes, quantities and bin locations
  • Report and assist with investigating stock discrepancies
  • Support initiatives aimed at maintaining inventory accuracy

6. General Warehouse Duties

  • Follow all warehouse SOPs, work instructions, quality standards and food safety requirements
  • Assist with general warehouse activities as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor, HOD or DC Manager
  • Support the team in achieving daily operational targets
  • Maintain professional conduct and effective teamwork
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, efficient and productive warehouse environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution centre environment
  • Valid turret truck licence/certification
  • Demonstrated ability to operate warehouse equipment safely
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse procedures and stock handling
  • Ability to read and follow picking, put-away and replenishment instructions
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts according to operational requirements
  • Physically capable of performing the duties associated with the position
  • Commitment to health, safety, housekeeping and company standards
