Who Can Apply for Teacher’s Assistant Jobs in Phase 5?
- Age Requirement: Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old.
- Residency: Must be a South African resident with a valid RSA ID book or card, valid passport, or a valid work permit.
- Proximity: Must live no further than 5km from the school, or up to 30km for farm schools.
- Employment Status: Must not be currently employed.
- Education Status: Must not be studying part-time or full-time, or participating in a learnership.
- Government Grants: Must not be receiving any government grants.
- Income: Must not be receiving any salary, wage, or stipend.
- Criminal Record: Must not have a criminal record.
- Fair Selection: Must not be unfairly advantaged by knowing any staff members at the school.
- Training: Must have attended and successfully completed all compulsory training for the position and received relevant certificates.
Responsibilities of a Teacher’s Assistant:
- Classroom Support: Overseeing and helping with teaching activities in the classroom.
- Administrative Support: Assisting the teacher with lesson planning and admin duties.
- Preparation: Creating displays and preparing the classroom and resources for lessons.
- Behavior Management: Supporting the teacher in managing difficult pupil behavior and fostering positive behavior and attitudes.
- Extracurricular Activities: Helping with after-school activities, school functions, trips, and other school-related activities.
- Academic Support: Assisting with revision and exams.
