Key Responsibilities

As a Protective Services Officer, you will provide professional security services to protect Rand Water’s assets and people. Your main duties will include:

  • Protecting Rand Water’s people, property, and assets in accordance with current legislation and company procedures.
  • Conducting regular patrols and maintaining high visibility to deter threats.
  • Monitoring and controlling access to sites, including vehicle and pedestrian checks.
  • Responding promptly to incidents, alarms, and security breaches.
  • Enforcing National Key Point Act requirements and site-specific security protocols.
  • Maintaining accurate occurrence books, registers, and incident reports.
  • Providing professional and courteous service to staff, visitors, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the security team to ensure effective shift handovers and coverage.
  • Identifying and reporting suspicious activities, vulnerabilities, or maintenance issues.
  • Assisting with emergency response and crisis management when required.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and firearms regulations at all times.
  • Supporting risk mitigation and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Performing any other reasonable security-related duties as assigned.

You will be required to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, to ensure continuous security coverage.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or N3 qualification.
  • Valid PSIRA Grade C registration.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Firearm competency for business purposes (rifle, handgun, and shotgun).

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar security environment.

Desired:

  • National Key Point training.
  • Dog handling and tactical training.
