Minimum Requirements

• A minimum of Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification
• Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Experience in a clinical/hospital environment will be an added advantage
• Willingness to work shifts, including night shift, weekends and public holidays
• Ability to rotate in different departments according to operational needs
• Physically fit to perform tasks such as lifting patients from beds, benches and wheelchairs
• Good communication skills and good telephone etiquette
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Basic understanding of safety and hygiene principles

Key Duties

• Transport patients from different service points to clinical areas and wards within the hospital
• Assist in offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles onto wheelchairs or stretchers
• Ensure patient safety when transporting them
• Clean stretchers and wheelchairs after every use
• Transport corpses from the wards to the mortuary
• Ensure accurate completion of the mortuary register
• Report faulty equipment to the supervisor for repairs and ensure proper storage
• Participate in administrative procedures of the mortuary
• Adhere to correct protocols when dealing with the public and bereaved families
• Ensure that equipment is readily available for use at all times
• Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor
