The Joe Gqabi District in Maletswai is seeking a dedicated General Assistant to provide essential support in administrative, cleaning, and transportation tasks. Key Responsibilities:

As a General Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Delivery & Transport Services:
    • Safely deliver documents within the department and to other departments.
    • Provide transport services for provincial library staff, including ferrying officials and stakeholders to departmental events.
    • Report vehicle defects to the relevant official promptly.
  • Office Support:
    • Perform photocopying, faxing, and general clerical duties.
    • Assist in loading and offloading furniture, equipment, and goods to relevant destinations.
    • Collect and deliver mail and other items to various offices.
  • Cleaning & Maintenance:
    • Clean offices, boardrooms, walkways, and workstations, including workshops and exhibition rooms.
    • Clean and maintain general kitchen and restroom areas, ensuring the restrooms are well-stocked with toilet paper and other necessities.
    • Clean and maintain office equipment like microwaves and vacuum cleaners after use.
    • Report any broken cleaning equipment and request replacements or new cleaning materials when needed.
  • Event Preparation:
    • Assist in preparing venues for functions and meetings.
    • Wash and prepare utensils such as kettles, cups, saucers, glasses, and jugs.
    • Serve tea during meetings and provide assistance during events.
  • Other Duties:
    • Perform any additional general assistant tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
    • Post notices on notice boards and assist in administrative tasks where needed.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Grade 8 certificate or ABET Level 4, or NQF Level 1-3.
    • No prior experience required, but one year of experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.
    • Self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks.
  • Additional Advantages:
    • A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.
