Job Description
As an Artisan Instrument Mechanician Gr 2, you will monitor and control assigned machinery to ensure safe and reliable operations at Sasol’s Secunda plant. This role involves troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment issues, performing emergency repairs, and conducting preventive maintenance to support business continuity. You will work collaboratively in a team, contribute to safety initiatives, and mentor junior artisans, playing a key role in maintaining plant sustainability.
Requirements
Formal Education:

Matric or N3 with Mathematics, English, and Physical Science.

Occupational Trade Certificate (Red Seal) in Instrument Mechanician or related field.

Valid driver’s license.
Working Experience:

Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in instrument mechanician work or related maintenance roles.

Monitor and control assigned machinery to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Use plant maintenance documentation and planning work management systems.

Capture accurate history feedback for renewals, upgrades, and critical spares replacement.

Safety and Compliance:

Comply with Safety Management Systems (e.g., IMS, MBO).

Apply emergency procedures and conduct task risk assessments.

Participate in risk assessments and maintain good housekeeping/waste disposal practices.

Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments.

Provide feedback during root cause analyses (RCAs) and performance appraisals.

Share knowledge with junior artisans and mentor learners informally.
