Job Overview

As an Artisan Aide at Exxaro’s Matla Coal, you will play a vital role in supporting skilled artisans to ensure the smooth operation of heavy machinery. Minimum Requirements

• Educational Qualifications:

  • Grade 10/Standard 8 Technical qualification.

  • AET Level 4 certification.

  • Completion of at least one skills program in AA Fitting, Diesel Mechanic, Plater Welder, or Electrical.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of technical support experience as a helper/operator in a heavy industry setting.

• Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass Exxaro’s Psychometric Assessment and Certificate of Fitness.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure, safety-critical environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintenance Support:

  • Assist with servicing, maintenance, and overhaul of heavy machinery (mechanical and electrical).

  • Conduct first-level inspections and perform basic fault-finding on equipment.

  • Support scheduled and reactive maintenance to maximize equipment availability.

• Equipment Monitoring:

  • Monitor production equipment and report breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Recondition and test components and spares before returning them to operation.

• Technical Tasks:

  • Perform welding, cutting, and installation of refractory materials as needed.

• Safety and Compliance:

  • Uphold stringent health, safety, and housekeeping standards.

  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and comply with Safety, Health, Environment, and Community (SHEC) requirements.

• Team Collaboration:

  • Work effectively in diverse team environments, demonstrating adaptability and accountability.
