Golden Gate Highlands National Park – Gladstone Section (Stables)

📍 LOCATION

Golden Gate Highlands National Park
(Official accommodation will be provided inside the Park)

📘 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Grade 12 / Std 10 / NQF Level 4 qualification

• Proficiency in English (read, write, speak)

• Physically fit (fitness test required)

• Chainsaw & Brushcutter training – attach certificates

• Experience in:

  • Horse riding

  • Working in a stable

  • Saddling and handling horses

➕ ADDED ADVANTAGES

• Exposure to conservation work (alien clearing, fire management)

• Basic Firefighting Certificate

• Knowledge of:

  • Occupational Health & Safety Act

  • Conservation legislation, regulations & standards

• Basic First Aid Certificate

🛠 RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in identifying and reporting horse-related ailments

• Support horse vaccinations, feeding, grooming & medical care

• Stable maintenance, cleaning paddocks, gardens & surrounding areas

• Maintain riding equipment (saddles, bridles, tack)

• Assist with visitor outrides when required

• Build and maintain fences

• Assist with:

  • Wildfire suppression

  • Controlled/prescribed burns

  • Preparation of firebreaks

• Support invasive plant clearing & soil erosion control

• Perform maintenance on buildings, signage & hiking trails

• Uphold strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices

• Duties include weekends and public holidays
