Job Description
As a Works Inspector (Electrical or General), you will provide inspection services for minor new and existing building structures, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining quality standards. This role involves technical oversight, contractor management, and documentation, with a focus on effective project execution and adherence to safety and legislative requirements. The Electrical Works Inspector will specialize in electrical systems, while General Works Inspectors cover broader building maintenance tasks.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:

National Diploma (T/N/S streams) or equivalent, OR N3 and a Trade Test in the building environment (Electrical Trade Diploma for Post 31/232), OR Registration as an Engineering Technician.

Valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).

Duties

Inspection Services:

Conduct inspections on new and maintenance work to ensure compliance with regulations and legislation.

Verify quality control standards are maintained on project sites.

Cost Estimation and Documentation:

Compile estimates for repairs, costs, and maintenance work.

Maintain an electronic record system for ongoing and completed work.

Develop progress reports for outstanding and finalized projects.

Technical Support:

Develop and interpret plans and sketches.

Draw up quotation documents and compile specifications.
-
Participate in the adjudication process and provide recommendations on quotations.

Contractor Oversight:

Inspect contractor work to ensure compliance with prescribed standards.

Advise and guide contractors on relevant legislation and regulations.

Compile payment documents, variation orders, and requests for deadline extensions.

Ensure effective contract administration.

Stakeholder Liaison:

Collaborate with stakeholders on technical aspects of projects.

Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP):

Gather and submit information in support of the EPWP.
