As a Stock Clerk, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Distribution Centre (DC) and maintaining accurate inventory control — helping to keep operations efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused.


Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of the Stock Clerk role is to maintain optimum stock levels within the Distribution Centre while ensuring that all goods are accurately received, stored, and distributed to the right locations. You’ll be responsible for ensuring proper stock control, accurate recording, and timely reporting, contributing to the overall productivity of the warehouse and supporting the branch’s operational goals.

This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse or retail environment.


⚙️ Key Responsibilities

As a Stock Clerk at OK Furniture, your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Receiving of Stock:
    Ensure that all incoming stock is received correctly in the designated receiving area and that all quantities and product details match the accompanying documentation.

  • Stock Control:
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all stock movements to prevent shortages, overstocking, or misplacement of goods.

  • Stock Allocation:
    Allocate stock correctly to designated customers or departments, ensuring that all items are stored and tracked according to company procedures.

  • Stock Reconciliation:
    Conduct monthly stock counts and reconcile physical stock against system records. Report any variances or discrepancies to the branch manager for immediate investigation and resolution.

  • Monitoring Attendance and Timekeeping:
    Monitor staff attendance and punctuality within your area and ensure that all timesheets and required forms are completed and submitted to the branch manager timeously.

  • Communication and Coordination:
    Build and maintain good working relationships with other departments, promoting teamwork and open communication to ensure smooth workflow across the Distribution Centre.

  • Operational Support:
    Assist in deploying staff effectively, ensuring that people and resources are allocated to the areas where they are most needed.

  • Compliance and Best Practices:
    Enforce Good Warehouse Practice (GWP) principles, ensuring that all operations comply with company policies, safety regulations, and hygiene standards.

  • Reporting:
    Prepare and submit relevant stock and operational reports, highlighting issues, trends, or areas for improvement to management.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate (essential).

  • Any additional qualification in logistics, warehousing, or inventory control will be an advantage.


Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a warehouse, stock control, or retail inventory environment is beneficial.

  • Supervisory experience or the ability to oversee small teams will be an added advantage.

  • Exposure to distribution and stock management systems will be useful.
