Job Description
As a Road Works Superintendent, you will oversee road maintenance and construction activities in the Waterberg District, ensuring the upkeep of road surfaces, signage, and related infrastructure. This role involves planning, managing contracted services, and providing technical expertise to maintain high standards of work. You will lead teams, monitor quality, and ensure compliance with safety and departmental standards, contributing to Limpopo’s infrastructure development.
Requirements
Educational Qualifications:

Grade 12/Matric certificate.

Qualification at NQF Level 06 as recognized by SAQA in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 6 years of road works maintenance or construction experience.
Licenses:

Valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).
Technical Competencies:

Computer literacy (MS Office, project management software).

Good verbal and written communication.

Duties

Road Maintenance Oversight:
-
Monitor maintenance and repair of road surfaces, including surfacing intervals, culvert/bridge replacements, line painting, sign replacements, and grading/resurfacing of gravel roads.

Asset Management:

Develop schedules for maintaining roads, plants, and equipment.

Program Planning:

Plan and prepare weekly/monthly maintenance programs.

Contract and Project Management:

Manage contracted services, oversee project execution, and conduct final inspections for capital projects.

Technical Advice:

Provide expertise on claims against the department.

Quality Control:

Monitor and ensure the quality of work by contractors and maintenance teams.

Supervise and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
