Job Requirements

To qualify for the Road Work Foreman role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Qualification at NQF Level 4 (e.g., Grade 12 or equivalent) as recognized by SAQA.

  • Experience: No specific years of experience stated, but familiarity with road construction/maintenance is advantageous.

  • Competencies:

    • Job knowledge in road construction and maintenance techniques.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Flexibility, teamwork, and planning/organization abilities.

    • Computer literacy and aptitude for figures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Road Work Foreman, you will:

  • Support Road Construction/Maintenance:

    • Build culverts, side drains, steel guardrails, and gabions.

    • Construct road earthworks and layer works.

    • Perform surfacing, pothole patching, road fencing, and pipe laying.

    • Set road markings, install signs, and barricade work areas.

    • Clean and maintain roads, sidewalks, and resting areas.

  • Supervise Team Activities:

    • Enforce safety and precautionary measures.

    • Conduct inspections and allocate tasks to team members.

    • Oversee work performance and maintain equipment.

    • Control tools, supplies, and stock to ensure efficiency.

    • Coordinate the blading program for road maintenance.
