Job Requirements

• Road Work Foreman:

  • Education: NQF Level 4 (e.g., Grade 12) as recognized by SAQA.

  • Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of road maintenance manuals, operating machinery, health and safety measures, and production processes; communication, interpersonal relations, computer literacy, planning, and organization.

• Road Worker:

  • Education: NQF Level 4 (e.g., Grade 12) as recognized by SAQA.

  • Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant acts, road machinery operation, health and safety, and roadwork procedures; decision-making, creativity, communication, planning, flexibility, and teamwork.

  • Experience: No prior experience required.

Key Responsibilities

• Road Work Foreman:

  • Construct culverts, side drains, guardrails, gabions, and road layers.

  • Perform surfacing, pothole patching, fencing, pipe laying, and road marking/sign installation.

  • Supervise teams, enforce safety measures, conduct inspections, and allocate tasks.

  • Maintain equipment and coordinate blading programs.

• Road Worker:

  • Build culverts, side drains, guardrails, gabions, and road layers.

  • Clean roads, sidewalks, and resting areas; perform surfacing, pothole patching, and fencing.

  • Install road signs, markers, and studs; barricade work areas.

  • Conduct bush clearing, grass cutting, and material crushing.
