Bayworld Museum in Gqeberha is seeking a dedicated and motivated Cleaner to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within our facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with basic education and a passion for creating clean, organized spaces. If you have good interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and enjoy working in a museum environment, this position is perfect for you.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Cleaner, your duties will include:

  • Office Cleaning:
    • Dust and wax office furniture, ensuring all surfaces are spotless.
    • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors to keep them in top condition.
    • Vacuum and shampoo carpets, keeping the floor area clean and presentable.
    • Clean walls, windows, and doors for a sparkling finish.
    • Empty and clean dirt bins, ensuring waste is properly managed and disposed of.
  • Kitchen Area Cleaning:
    • Clean general kitchen areas, including waste bins and kitchen utensils.
    • Ensure kitchen areas are neat and well-stocked with essential supplies.
  • Restroom Maintenance:
    • Refill hand wash liquid soap and replace toilet paper, hand towels, and refreshers.
    • Empty and wash waste bins to maintain a hygienic restroom environment.
  • Equipment Care:
    • Maintain and clean machines such as microwaves, vacuum cleaners, and other cleaning tools after use.
    • Report any broken cleaning equipment to ensure repairs or replacements are arranged promptly.
  • General Duties:
    • Freshen the office and common areas, ensuring they are welcoming and pleasant for staff and visitors.
    • Keep and maintain cleaning materials and ensure proper storage and use.

Requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Grade 8 certificate or ABET Level 4, or NQF Level 1-3.
    • No prior experience is required, though one year of experience as a cleaner will be an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
