Job Responsibilities
As an Independent Correctional Centre Visitor, you will:
- Engage with Inmates and Officials:
- Visit the correctional facility daily to interact with inmates and Department of Correctional Services (DCS) officials on complaints and concerns.
- Monitor and report on conditions of incarceration, including deaths, segregation, use of mechanical restraints, and use of force.
- Support JICS Operations:
- Assist JICS officials during inspections and investigations.
- Handle administrative tasks, including capturing inmate complaints, mandatory matters, and detailed report writing.
- Ensure Compliance:
- Monitor adherence to correctional standards and report findings to improve transparency and accountability.
- Work Independently and Collaboratively:
- Operate autonomously while collaborating with JICS teams to uphold justice and fairness.
Requirements
To qualify for the ICCV role, you need:
- Education: Grade 12/Senior Certificate (Matric or equivalent).
- Skills and Competencies:
