Job Responsibilities

As an Independent Correctional Centre Visitor, you will:

• Engage with Inmates and Officials:
  • Visit the correctional facility daily to interact with inmates and Department of Correctional Services (DCS) officials on complaints and concerns.
  • Monitor and report on conditions of incarceration, including deaths, segregation, use of mechanical restraints, and use of force.
• Support JICS Operations:
  • Assist JICS officials during inspections and investigations.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including capturing inmate complaints, mandatory matters, and detailed report writing.
• Ensure Compliance:
  • Monitor adherence to correctional standards and report findings to improve transparency and accountability.
• Work Independently and Collaboratively:

Requirements

To qualify for the ICCV role, you need:

• Education: Grade 12/Senior Certificate (Matric or equivalent).
• Skills and Competencies:
