Job Requirements

To qualify for the ICCV role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 or Senior Certificate.

  • Experience: No prior work experience required – perfect for entry-level candidates!

  • Community Nomination: A nomination letter from a community organization (not older than 6 months).

  • Skills and Abilities:

    • Computer literacy and accuracy in data capture.

    • Ability to work independently and in teams.

    • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

    • Capability to handle pressure and resolve conflicts.

    • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles (customer-focused service delivery).

  • Advantageous: Valid driver’s license; residency near the correctional centre applied for.

Key Responsibilities

As an ICCV, you will:

  • Monitor Conditions: Visit correctional centres daily to assess incarceration conditions, including deaths, segregation, restraints, and use of force.

  • Handle Complaints: Record and address inmate complaints, ensuring fair treatment.

  • Support Inspections: Assist JICS officials during facility inspections and investigations.

  • Administrative Tasks: Capture complaints, prepare reports on mandatory matters, and maintain accurate records.

  3. Include Nomination Letter: Attach a letter from a community organization (not older than 6 months) endorsing your application.
