Job Overview
As a General Worker Stores, you will play a crucial role in supporting the hospital’s operations by managing stock, delivering supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized stores environment. This permanent role, based at Paarl Hospital, requires strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. You will work closely with clerks to ensure effective stock control and support the hospital’s daily needs.
Key Responsibilities

Stock Delivery:

Deliver stock (e.g., consumables and inventory) to wards, departments, theatres, and the administration building in a timely manner.

Ensure issue vouchers are returned to the relevant clerk for capturing and filing.

Stock Management:
-
Assist with receiving, packing, unpacking, storing, and issuing stock according to hospital standards.

Support effective stock control procedures to prevent losses and ensure availability.

Safekeeping:

Ensure the safekeeping of equipment and stock in the stores area.

Stock Taking:
-
Assist clerks with periodic stock takes to maintain accurate inventory records.

Housekeeping:

Keep the stores neat, tidy, and clean to comply with health and safety regulations.

General Duties:

Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by supervisors to support the stores and hospital operations.

Requirements

Education: Basic literacy and numeracy skills (Junior Certificate/Grade 10 or equivalent preferred).

Experience: Appropriate experience in a stores environment (e.g., warehouse, inventory management, or hospital logistics).

Competencies:

Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
