Job Responsibilities
As a Foreman, you will:
- Manage Maintenance Strategies:
- Oversee daily engineering and maintenance strategies to meet departmental KPIs.
- Decide on equipment repair or replacement to minimize downtime.
- Ensure adherence to maintenance programs and schedules.
- Optimize Costs and Performance:
- Manage maintenance costs against the appointed area’s budget (R/t).
- Ensure equipment availability by managing downtime, shift schedules, Mean Time to Failure (MTTF), and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- Ensure Compliance and Standards:
- Implement operational projects and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Codes of Practice (COPs).
- Ensure adherence to engineering principles, legislation, and governance bodies (e.g., standardization committees).
- Conduct Technical Analysis:
- Perform condition monitoring, failure trend analysis, and root cause elimination.
- Execute predictive maintenance recommendations to address backlogs.
- Drive Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain best-in-class safety performance, targeting zero harm, zero fatalities, and a low Lost Workday Case Rate (LWDCR).
- Ensure Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) compliance, addressing major findings and outstanding actions.
- Lead and Develop Teams:
- Coordinate recruitment, training, coaching, and career development.
- Manage vacancy rates, absenteeism, and employee engagement to meet industry benchmarks.
- Conduct planned task observations and ensure successors for critical positions.
- Support Operational Goals:
- Coordinate planning to achieve production targets within budget.
- Assess the economic and engineering viability of business cases, providing inspection expertise and coaching.
- Deliver against Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives.
Requirements
To qualify for the Foreman role, you need:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Occupational Trade Qualification/Certificate in a relevant field.
- Experience:
- 6+ years of relevant experience in engineering maintenance, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Technical Skills: Action planning, engineering technology, engineering design, and engineering development.
