Job Overview

As a Driver’s Aide, you will assist Heavy Vehicle Drivers and Construction Plant Operators with their daily tasks, ensuring efficient and safe operations at Rand Water’s Central Depot. This permanent role involves loading and offloading equipment, cleaning vehicles and yards, and performing general duties to support the Bulk Water Services division. Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Handling:

  • Load, offload, and transport equipment safely, ensuring proper tie-down procedures are followed.

  • Assist with basic rigging and slinging tasks when required.

• Vehicle and Yard Maintenance:

  • Clean vehicles to maintain hygiene and operational standards in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep the yard and work areas tidy and safe.

• Driver Support:

  • Assist Heavy Vehicle Drivers and Construction Plant Operators with daily tasks, such as route preparation and equipment checks.

• General Duties:

  • Support operational needs by performing ad hoc tasks as directed by supervisors.

  • Report any equipment or vehicle issues promptly to ensure safety and efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 certificate or N3 qualification (NQF Level 4).

• Licenses: Valid Code 8 driver’s license.

• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a similar environment (e.g., assisting drivers or operators in logistics, construction, or water utilities).

• Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of equipment tie-down procedures.

  • Familiarity with safety protocols (Occupational Health and Safety Act).

  • Basic rigging and slinging knowledge (advantageous).

• Skills:

  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Customer service orientation for interactions with team members and supervisors.
